Kibali Generates $654 Million in Sales for Barrick in First Half of 2026
Barrick’s Kibali Gold Mine Generates $654 Million in Sales in First Half of 2026
Barrick Mining’s share of sales from the Kibali gold mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) reached $654 million in the first half of 2026, reflecting the strong performance of the operation amid higher gold prices.
Barrick, which holds a 45% interest in Kibali and operates the mine, recorded $341 million in sales during the first quarter and a further $313 million in the second quarter. The first-half figure compares with $417 million during the same period in 2025.
The strong financial performance comes as gold prices remain elevated, supporting higher revenues across Barrick’s portfolio. Kibali is one of the company’s key African gold operations and remains an important contributor to its overall production and cash generation.
Located in northeastern DRC, Kibali is operated through a joint venture involving Barrick, AngloGold Ashanti and the state-owned Société Minière de Kilo-Moto (SOKIMO).
The mine combines open-pit and underground operations and has been one of the DRC’s largest industrial gold producers.
Its performance is supported by extensive processing infrastructure, including a combination of hydropower and thermal generation that helps provide a reliable electricity supply.
Barrick’s latest results also come as the company continues to advance plans to extend Kibali’s mine life through exploration and resource development.
Continued exploration around the operation is expected to play an important role in replacing depleted resources and maintaining long-term production.
Kibali’s strong contribution underscores the importance of the DRC to Barrick’s African portfolio and highlights the country’s continued significance in global gold production.
For the DRC, the mine remains an important source of employment, investment, government revenue and local economic activity, while its production contributes to the country’s position as a major gold producer.
Barrick’s first-half performance demonstrates the continued value of Kibali as the company focuses on maintaining production, extending mine life and maximising returns from its long-life African assets.
